As the situation with coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to develop, we will be ensuring this page is kept up-to-date with advice for patients and visitors. The information on this page reflects the hospital policy at The Portland Hospital.
We are now able to see all patients who request an appointment, including routine screening.
For patients who cannot or prefer not to travel to the clinic we are offering telephone and video consultations, please call 0207 101 1700. For further information, please see our page on video consultations.
Safety Measures
Keeping our team and our patients safe is paramount so we are taking the following steps to minimise risk during your visit:
At London Gynaecology, your safety is paramount. The following are the steps we are taking to minimise the risk during your visit.
Social distancing:
- Spacing out appointments to reduce number of patients attending at any given time to avoid overcrowding in the waiting area
- We will collect all the relevant information before the appointment so that the registration process is swift.
- Patients only allowed to enter the premises. Please do not bring anyone with you unless in exception circumstances
- Reduced onsite administrative team. This means that you may have to phone one our offsite secretaries before you leave.
Cleanliness:
- Surface of furniture and equipment will be wipe-cleaned with disinfectant between patients to avoid cross-contamination
- All healthcare professionals will wear a mask and a plastic apron
- All healthcare professionals are tested for Coronavirus infection as appropriate
- Temperature check for everybody (including you) at the point of entry into the premises
Telemedicine:
- Many patients will want to avoid travelling to the clinic and we will continue to offer telephone and video consultations where appropriate.
- We will be happy to continue your regular prescription such as the pill, HRT etc (after appropriate checks) and send it to your pharmacy or get it delivered to you through an online pharmacy (Zottii)
Surgical procedures:
- Surgery is still restricted to urgent and emergency cases only due to higher risks associated with the procedure and postoperative recovery.

What if I can’t travel to your clinic at the moment?
- We are offering video consultations and telephone consultations for patients who cannot get to our clinic at this time. Please see our our page on video consultations.
